The Toys
The Toy Car Museum is a gold mine for kids of all ages.
This includes not only cars, but also trains, planes, cable cars, almost any type of vehicle you
can imagine. The museum also includes "regular" common toys in the exhibition "children's toys"
Read more about the different exhibitions by select above.
The toy/model car exhibition shows large portions (about 4.000) of a world unique collection of toy cars
that comprise more than 10.000 cars. What is unique for the collection is that almost all
cars have the same scale (1:43-1:50). The collection includes specimen from the very beginning
of toy car production up until today. You will find almost any type of classic toy car from
large production companies, such as Dinky Toys, Märklin, Tootsitoy, Tekno, Corgi and Solido,
but also from small and practically unknown producers all over the world (Lemeco, Buby, Mercury, Mecline etc.)
The cars are shown in different scaled environments, which makes the impression more alive
and entertaining for the visitors. You can almost feel the rubber smell from the racing track,
where legendary racing cars compete each other; the procession of a presidental visit includes
luxurious, exclusive cars as they appeared about thirty years ago; the historical car parade starts
back from the very first self-powered vehicle back in the late 18th century and is concluded with
cars not even yet released.
Museihuset offers a stunning model train experience. Since long time ago,
exhibitiors nowadays usually use the common gauge H0(scale 1/87) for trains. What is
less known is that during 1900-1960 the double size gauge 0 (H0 means actually Half 0) -
was common. Today, you hardly see this factory-made scale anymore - unless you come and visit
Museihuset.
The train exhibition covers almost 40 sqare metres, about 200 meter of rail
and a train park beyond belief from manufacturers such as Märklin, Bing, Hornby, Hag and others.
The train collection includes locomotives and carriages from the beginning until the middle of the 20th century.
And they are still operational!
In the children's museum, both children and grown-ups can walk or crawl around in the world
of modern and semi-modern toys. You may find your favourite toys around the collection of Smurfs, Lego
doll-houses and other memorable toys.
You will find unforgettable characters, such as Donald Duck & friends, Winnie the Pooh among others
All toys are strategically located on ground level so even the youngest can enjoy the
exhibitions

Welcome to the world of toys, model cars, model trains and classic boats - Museihuset
Museihuset is a museum located in the Östergötland area of Sweden close to the city of Linköping, about 135 miles (21 0km) from Stockholm.
Our ambition is to offer a unique experience mainly in four areas - classic boats, toy/model cars, toy/model trains and the latest
addition, popular children's contemporary toys
The museum in its current form celebrates its tenth anniversary in 2012, but the collections actually have an even older history.
The toy cars are parts of a collection of more than 10.000. The collection is a result of passionate work for more than 60 years
and is considered unique of its kind. The collection also includes model trains of a larger, more impressive scale than usual.
The classic boat exhibition collects some of the most notable boats from earlier days. It is a composition of,
mainly wooden, boats from canoes up to exclusive luxurious yachts former owned by millionaires.
